Rescue and Romance!!!!

Wild Montana Skies

by Susan May Warren

I was blessed with the opportunity to meet Susan May Warren in person, recently at our local community library. She had chosen our library as one of her stops on her book tour for Wild Montana Skies. Her visit to our little local reading spot was a bright spot for several of our regular patrons. Susan spent some of her time with us telling us about her newest series and giving us some tips on becoming an author.

In her newest series called Montana Rescue, Susan introduces us to a new group of unsung heroes. A SAR  (Search and Rescue) team that has been put together by a very wealthy benefactor in the town of Mercy Falls, Montana. In Montana Rescue we meet a former military search and rescue pilot Kacey Fairing who has returned home on a leave. During her time home she has accepted an offer to fly for the local SAR team, with the hopes of reconnecting with her teenage daughter.

At the same time Ben King has placed his dreams and career on hold to return back home to care for his dad. Making the choice to take his dad's place as the head of the SAR team is a big decision for Ben. This decision puts him back in the life of the one person he has spent his adult life running from.

As these two are thrown together as part of the SAR team working to perform the rescues that are needed during the flood that has hit Mercy Falls and the surrounding area. We get to see them work thru some very big issues in their life and make choices

The story told here is about the lives of a few SAR team members and the issues they deal with every day. This story touches my heart deeply as a EMT/FF myself, I understand some of what these characters are going thru in the story. The time that is spend helping others in their time of need sometimes weighs on the loved ones. At times the things each of these rescue workers go thru can take a toll on them.

Another Day, Another Dali

Another Day, Another Dali

Sandra Orchard

In the second Serena Jones mystery, Serena continues her pursuit on finding the truth out about the murder of her grandfather. When her grandmother asks her help with a friends missing painting, Serena finds herself mixed up into two investigations. The deeper she gets in the investigations the more danger she faces.

Sandra Orchard takes art and mixes it up with a mystery. As a mystery lover I fell in love with this series from the first page to the last page of this book. I can't wait to see what Serena is going to get into next and which guy will she chose the super or the FBI guy.

Where Two Hearts Meet!!!

Where Two Hearts Meet

by Liz Johnson

Return to the beautiful Prince Edward Island in the newest arrival from Liz Johnson. We briefly met Caden Holt in the first book of the series as the baker at her fathers shop. Now we find her in the position of executive chef at the Red Door Inn. Being able to do the her favorite thing in life, baking and making meals for others. When word comes that a travel writer is coming to visit the Inn, Caden is placed into a position she does not want. Her boss is concerned about the lack of profit coming in and the promise of a travel writer brings hope in their dire situation. Caden is their best hope at entertaining the writer and showing him the sights while selling the red door inn as a choice for a travel site.

Liz Johnson has written another delightful read based on the Prince Edward Island; also the home to the Anne of Green Gables series. I love getting to read about a different area then where I live. Caden reminds me of myself, wanting to be in the background serving others. Like Caden I have had to be pulled out of my comfort zone and pushed to do something that I never thought I would do in my life.
There are so many others like Caden out there, that can see themselves in this character. It gives us hope that we can step out of comfort zone and do something different in life.

A big thank you for Revell making this available for review.

Another Good Read!!

Home on the Range

by Ruth Logan Herne

The second book in the Double S Ranch series brings us back to Gray's Glen, Washington. We find the town still trying to rebuild after the disaster that has struck them. At the same time the Stafford brother Nick, has put his whole focus on working his family ranch and is now struggling to raise his daughters on his own.

Ruth has done it again and written a story that pulls you in to the book. The little girls struggling with the issue of not having a mother in the picture, then all of sudden she reappears in their life. This story deals with a issue that is not touched very often in fiction. The struggle of a doting father trying to make the right decisions for his daughters without causing them more pain in the long run. Also the pain of having a parent that leaves and then chooses to reinsert themselves in their child lives for alternative reasons.

I loved the way she created her characters to each have their own uniqueness and background that draws you to love them more, Can't wait for the third installment in this amazing series.

Hope in the Darkness!!

Hope Prevails: Insights from a Doctors Personal Journey through Depression

by Dr Michelle Bengtson

As a board-certified neuropyschologist, Dr Michelle Bengtson has seen the devastation that depression causes to people. In her practice she prescribed the most effective  treatments for her patients. When one day the tables turned and she was now the patient suffering from depression; struggling just to get thru one day at a time. Using the same treatments that she prescribed for her patients, she felt worse than before. Seeking to find the hope she needed to overcome depression she turned to the one book that showed her grace, The Bible.

Taking from her experience, Dr Bengston writes the words that most people struggling with depression will recognize. Taking her training and blending it with a vital missing piece, she shows us that we can pull thru even if it does not feel like we are going to make it.

If you are someone who is struggling with depression or you know someone who is this is the book for you to read. My dear husband struggles with depression and it has hit him so hard he made a sad choice to leave me. This book has help to open my eyes to what depression does to you and how hard it is just to pull yourself out the pit you have fell in. Having dealt with a slight bout of depression, I thought I was helping my hubby by just trying to be there and cheer him up. But I alone could not do that, God from above is the one who gives us the hope to get thru this time of darkness.

Really Bad Girls of the Bible!!

Really Bad Girls of the Bible

More Lessons from Less-than Perfect Women

by Liz Curtis Higgs

She did it again, Liz Curtis Higgs has taken the bad girls of the Bible and brought them to life in her latest book. We are introduced to some very overlooked women in the Bible, Jael, Medium of En-dor, Athalia and Herodias. Also some women that touched lives thru the things they did, Bathsheba, Tamar, the Adulteress and the Bleeding Woman. Each of these women did things that were bad or something that was considered bad in that time period in the case of the Bleeding Woman. Each chapter highlights one of these womens stories and at the end it gives us insight that we can learn from each of these women.

I loved reading Slightly Bad Girls of the Bible, so when I got the chance to review this book I jumped at it. Liz does an amazing job of taking the stories of the women in the Bible and bringing them to life for us 20th century women. I would recommend this book to anyone as a study of the bible

Ben-Hur, A tale of Christ!!

Ben-Hur A Tale of the Christ

by Carol Wallace

One of the bestselling novels of all time is back, Lew Wallace's great-great granddaughter has breathed new life into it for today's readers. It was really interesting to take a step back into the time period that Jesus lived in. The storyline starts with young Judah Ben-Hur going to meet his best friend after having not seen each other for several years. The years have passed these young men and changed each of them in very vast way that touches their lives. It will be years later before these two former friends turned enemies face off in the big chariot race. But the underlying story that runs thru this story is how Christ touched the lives of a family in several different ways.

This is my first time ever reading this book, it was exciting to be able to review this book. From the moment I picked up the book to read it till the end of it, it held my attention and made me want to see the movie.

This book was given to me for free by Tyndall blogging for an honest review.

Every Bride has Her Day

Every Bride has Her Day

Today is a special day for me, it is my wedding anniversary. On this day a very rainy afternoon my hubby and I stood in front of our beloved family and friends to say I do. The months that led up to that day, was a struggle for both of us. We had so many telling us how we should plan our special day, where we should have it at and what to wear for the day. When it came down to it, we planned a wedding that was us; as a couple. A Old Fashioned Campmeeting Wedding theme, that took place at a special place for my family.

Here is a few pics from my very special day!!

Calming the brides nerves!!

We chose a location that we both loved, a campmeeting grounds near where my parents grew up at and my grandmother took all of the grandkids too. It made it even more special that my dad was able to be there and walk me down the aisle.

We chose a simple setting with not much decorations, but a look that played up our love of Country Western. I truly did not want the formal bride and groom sides of the church. So the benches were  just set up so you could sit wherever you wanted to.

Each of  my girls was chosen, because they was precious in my life. They had a place of honor in the wedding, just as they had a special place in my heart.

These guys was the best groomsman we could have picked, at the last minute two of our dear friends had to fill in for two other guys who did not make it to the wedding.

Mr and Mrs Dennison!!

After a very rainy day, the sun came out to shine as we walked out of the covered pavilion as husband and wife. Some advice I would give a bride to be is plan your wedding for what you and your groom loves. Your day is about the two of you as a couple and not everyone else.

It makes it seem right to celebrate my wedding anniversary with a review of a book about a bride planning her wedding Day.

The third installment in the Brides of Style series, finds Katie getting ready to plan for her big wedding day. Coming from a small town, she is having a hard time being able to say what she wants for her wedding plans. With everyone from her co-workers to the WOP-pers wanting to plan her wedding without consulting her. When a bride in the same predicament comes into the shop looking for a dream wedding dress, Kate comes to a realization of her own. The wedding is to be a what she and her groom would love it to be like. With help of her handsome groom, she is able to set her foot down and plan a sweet wedding that was just for them. In the midst of all the crazyness, Several Propsals are made, a promptu wedding and a baby announcement is made; making this a very  sweet and cute read that showcases small towns and families
