Tidewater Bride by [Laura Frantz]

Historical fiction is on of my favorite genres to read, so when I picked up this book I was excited to read this book. Tidewater Bride is set in the colony of Virginia, in a time period where there was too few women to the ratio of men. Bride ships were something that the men looked forward to each time one came into harbor.

We meet the Selah the daughter of merchant in Jamestown, who has her hands full running her fathers shop. When she is given the duty of looking after latest incoming ship of Tobacco Brides. Selah finds herself with the unwanted attention from one of the owners of a Tobacco Plantation. But her heart belong to another man noticed Selah for years.

Xander Renick has been one of the most eligible  gentleman since the death of his wife. His plantation is vast with crops that  are prized by many. His position as a mediator between the colonists and  powerful Powhatan nation has kept him as a very important person in the colonies. When a exchange is made by the Powhatans and the colonists; Selah is given a the charge over a young native girl. Xander finds himself thinking of Selah as more than just a fellow plantation owners  daughter, but as a potential wife and mother for his son. Can Selah allow herself to love her dead friends and can Xander let go allow himself the freedom to  be happy?

I was given a complimentary copy of this book by the publisher to review, this my honest opinion of this book and I have not received any compensation for it.
