An UnCommon Woman!!

An Uncommon Woman

by Laura Frantz

I am a big fan of historical reads and this one from Laura Frantz did not disappoint me. Also I was even surprised to find some areas mentioned that seemed very familiar to me. So it was very interesting to find that the area was being written about is now part of Pennsylvania.

It takes place the mountains of western Virginia territory in 1770, we meet the heroine  Tessa Swan, who was raised with 5 brothers. So she has learned to be tough and face the challenges straight on. One day into her life walks Clay Tygart, the one man that can truly intrigue her like no other has. But he brings back into her life her long lost friend, Keturah. This adds a little confusion to their lives, the stigma of being an Indian captive can cause a lot of issues for her friend. But Tessa is willing to help her dear friend to acclimate back to living in her old life.

As a former Lenape Indian captive himself, Clay knows what it feels like to return to a world that has struggled with accepting them. Putting all his focus on his job as the Fort Commander, he has no interest in finding a wife. But when he meets the lovely Tessa and her family, it opens a door to his heart he never thought would open again. As he fights his  growing feelings for Tessa, he holds her at an arms length; causing more confusion for Tessa. But when tragedy strikes the Swan Homestead and Tessa is captured by Clay's Indian brother; Clay has to face down that he loves Tessa more then he admits too. Will Clay finally admit his feelings to Tessa and be able to come to her rescue?

I truly loved reading this book, I love getting to dive into the early time period before the land was covered with cities. Laura Frantz writes a book that I did not want to put down. I wanted to read more about what was going to happen to each of the characters in the book. I can't wait to see what the next book has in store for us.
