Engraved on the Heart

This book brings to Pre-Civil War Savannah Georgia, to the home of a very staunch Confederate family. We meet Debutante Keziah Montgomery who is being brought out to meet her potential suitors, but her family hides a very deep secret from the public eyes.  This beautiful young woman has lived her life being forced to hide her illness from others. Now she has to be the object of attention for the balls and parties  to come. When one evening she runs into an old classmate that introduces her to a very life changing truth. It is at this moment she feels she can do something to help others out of the circumstances by becoming an conductor in the underground railroad.

Dr Micah Greyson never dreamed he would come back home and run into his childhood classmate at a ball.  But the moment Keziah waltzes back in to his life, he is taken in by her beauty and reminded why he loved her as a young boy. He also never thought she would choose to put herself in to danger by helping runaway slaves and risking her health at the same time. Being torn between the life he has always known and the fight for abolition of slavery; he has to choose which is the right choice.

Fighting to find  God's will in his life brings him into the life of Keziah more times than her father agrees with. When her father chooses a husband for Keziah, she realizes she needs to obey her fathers wishes for her life even if it breaks her heart. The tension increases as a very Southern Belle cousin comes into her life causing more havoc in her secret life. As Micah and Keziah face their own battles, will they be able to find God's will in their lives.

When I went to look at reading this book what caught my eye was the story line about the dark secret Keziah had a illness, which is called nowadays Epilepsy. It intrigued me to read this book, because I also suffered with Epilepsy growing up as a teenager. Also it being a story line based in the Civil war time made me want to read it too.

I loved reading this book, it truly kept my attention all the way thru!!

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book provided by Tyndale. A favorable review was not required. All views expressed are my own."
