Crisis Shot

Crisis Shot

by Janice Cantore

This the newest novel from Janice Cantore, a retired Long Beach Police officer now an amazing supsense writer. Her works include the Pacific Coast Justice and Cold  Case Justice series. She now brings us a new series called Line of Duty. In the first book, Crisis Shot we meet Tess O'Rourke a commander of the East Division in Long Beach, California. Her dream of becoming the first female chief of police, turns into a nightmare when she fatally shoots an unarmed teenager. Backed by her fellow officers Tess endures a barrage of media and the public calling for her head on a platter. The only thing she can do is to find a job in the middle of no-where and restart her life.

When she finds an opening for a small town police chief, Tess jumps at the chance to start over in a new town. But winning over the residents of the small, backwater town of Rogue's Hollow, is going to be more difficult than Tess adjusting to her new role. Her first major case as the Police Chief, ends up being a missing person's case. The missing person is the pastor's wife, who has befriended Tess upon her arrival in town. The case gets more complicated when the cousin of the missing woman is found murdered.

An unlikely ally is found in a sheriff Deputy Steve Logan, who has offered to help the new police chief. Tess and Steve set out to track down Rogue Hollows first murderer. Tess struggles to show she is truly the one suited for this job, while being pushed by the town council to solve this case.

Janice Cantore brings a storyline that grabs you and keeps you turning the page to find out what happens next. I love reading her works and she has become my newest fave on my authors list.
